Frowback Fursday: The Human Turns Four

This is the Human's fourth birfday party on Dec. 12, 1953--technically she was still three as the real day is the 24th. I think she looks more like six!
That's her in the right foreground, and the other girl in the front is Pam, her BFF in 1953 and still her bestie 65 years later.

The little boy to the left is Mikey, about a year or year-and-a-half younger than the Human. The Human and Pam, mean little girls that they were, tormented poor little Mikey
mercilessly. Can't you just feel the terror in his eyes?

Quite the exciting little party eh? And everyone looks so clean, too. Remember when this is what birthday parties looked like? No Chuck E Cheese's or amusement park outings or bouncy-house rentals or gatherings of a cast of 100s.

Nope, just 7 well-behaved little tykes hoping for some punch and a slice of the good stuff. A round of pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey and that was that. The guests departed and Mama kicked her shoes off and sipped a cocktail. Ah, the good old days!

Our mom's mom would have said, "Isn't she cunning?" We guess that used to mean "darling." Anyway, we never knew your human's birthday was so close to Catmas. Our mom's is close to the start of the school year, so you can imagine what gifts she got. Let's just say it wasn't cat toys. But yes, she remembers when birthday parties were like that.

Oh, and yes, poor Mikey does look rather terrified!

How wonderful that your Human has had a BFF for so long.

As for cuteness, Humans are like cats, Spitty: cute when tiny, and mean when older! (LOL)

Mom said she sure does remember when they were like that. Don't know why the "extravaganza's" got started and more surprisingly, why they continued.

Adorable photo! We kind of wish birthday parties would return to the land of the real and not so much the frenzied manufactured kind some people go on and on and on about. But then again, as one of Mom's neighbors often laments, "Why should the children have to suffer?" Silly people. Just give us some nip and all will be well. Some nip and a couple (handfuls) of kitten kibble. And maybe a tuna cake.

Yep - my Mom absolutely remembers parties like this.....party dresses, Mom curls your hair with HER curlers for the occasion, socks with lace on the tops, birthdays were simple and fun. My Mom says the "good old days"..............really WERE.

Hugs, Teddy
p.s. Mikey looks shell-shocked

Spitty, our mom remembers it well. She turned four that same year as well. Can't forget the "nut cups" with candy and nuts as the party favors. Those were the days. Bet Mom Mary is just as cute now! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer
